Imaginative Cartography

The goal of this project was to keep a log of all the places that I visited during a one week period, both real and virtual (e.g. towns, cities, locales, houses, websites, databases, mailing lists, emails, etc.). Then try to draw a map of my journey, using four 11”x17” sheets of paper and additional materials as needed. We were to connect these pieces of paper however necessary were also allowed to use whatever media needed to imprint the map (i.e. drawing, digital print, etc.). The goal was to concentrate upon the relationship between the data that was gathered and the way it is represented.

Materials Used: Four 11″x17″ sheets of paper with printed virtual locations, 7 identical maps printed on transparency paper. Maps were drawn out in corresponding colors as the virtual locations were printed in for each day recorded.  Transparency sheets were attached to 11″x17″ printouts which were attached to a sheet of cardboard. Entire project is hung from a higher location so that the maps can be viewed at eye level.

Design Recruitment Series

This series was created to recruit potential students to attend design school. This poster series won a Silver Student ADDY and also the Judges Choice Award at the 2011 ADDY awards in the North Central Indiana chapter.

All posters were created with digital images with little adjustments other than color. Spaghettio’s were arranged and allowed to dry out for a few days in order to get this photo.

Junior Jr. Organic Toddler Apparel

There is a growing organic market in this go-green world. Standards remain high both by the consumer and by the growing number of newborns with special needs. This line of toddler apparel was created as an emotional branding project. The overall look is intended to be organic and natural, focusing on the clothing and the needs of the consumer rather than a flashy brand.

S.P.F. Beach Bag + Towel

The S.P.F. campaign was created as a social awareness campaign for the seriousness of skin cancer. The theme was to create a group or federation of people that are there to protect your skin at the beach.

SPF came to mind and was changed from Sun Protection Factor to Skin Protection Fans. Accessories include a beach bag with built sunscreen and an extra bag holding a beach towel. The included beach towel has stove top burners and the tag “Don’t Cook Yourself” written across the bottom. The ultimate beach accessory!

With all her might… she learned to write

This book was created to show children how to write. With extra attention to detail, the setup of the book promotes learning in a travel mind set. With built in handwriting paper and a pencil, any child can get started with their lessons immediately after reading the story.

The story line is of a little girl name Windy Newton that travels all over the world. Meeting all kinds of new friends, Windy returns home and realizes that she doesn’t know how to write! By the end of the story, Windy learns to write and tells her story by offering her writing knowledge. Step by step angles of writing are illustrated for every letter in the alphabet.
